Preparations are underway for the annual staging of the famous “Kom-Kom” festival, which typically takes place in Ziguinchor, Senegal. This year’s event is scheduled for December 15 to 21, 2025.
The initiative is from the association “Goorgoorlou Kom-Kom,” which has been inspired since 2008 under the technical supervision of the design office “Bs-Development.”
In addition to the fanfares and cultural displays throughout the Senegambia region, the festival also attracts tourists and boosts trade.
To that end, a delegation from the festival organizers, led by Paye Talla, paid a courtesy call on Mrs. Amie Njie, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, to formally inform her about the upcoming event.
Upon receiving the delegation, PS Njie expressed gratitude for their visit and assured them of the ongoing collaboration and cooperation between The Gambia and Senegal.
She further described tourism as one area that brings revenue to the government of the Gambia and creates employment for many people, especially the youth and women.
“ The tourism sector was some time ago, seriously affected by COVID-19, but thank God, today it is all over and tourists have started coming,” she said.
