The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, alongside the Gambia Tourism Board (GTBoard), successfully launched the first day of its highly anticipated Nordic Stakeholders Roadshow. This strategic initiative aims to strengthen ties with the Nordic travel market and reposition The Gambia as a premier year-round holiday destination for Scandinavian travelers.
The high-level Gambian delegation met with prominent tour operators, travel agents, and travel trade members from across Copenhagen. This reflected a unified national effort to enhance the country’s product image in this market. Key industry stakeholders joined the GTBoard, including Gambia International Airlines (GIA), the Gambia Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Djeliba Leisure Group, and Gambia Tours.
Mrs. Ida Jeng Njie, Director General of the Gambia Tourism Board, officially opened the prestigious event, welcomed guests, and emphasized the deep-rooted historical relationship between the Nordic region and The Gambia—traditionally known as the “Smiling Coast of Africa.” The Director General highlighted the country’s renewed commitment to delivering diverse, sustainable, and high-quality tourism products.
Following the opening address, attendees were presented with a comprehensive Destination Presentation. The showcase highlighted The Gambia’s world-class beaches, rich cultural heritage, eco-tourism opportunities, and improved air connectivity, reassuring partners of the destination’s readiness for the upcoming tourism season.
The core of the event featured a dynamic Business-to-Business (B2B) networking session. This platform allowed the Gambian delegation to engage in direct, one-on-one negotiations with Copenhagen’s travel trade professionals to foster new partnerships and discuss tailored travel packages.
The successful first day concluded with a networking dinner, allowing members of the Gambian delegation and Copenhagen’s travel trade to continue discussions in a convivial atmosphere, celebrating cultural exchange and mutual business opportunities.
The Nordic Roadshow will continue its journey across Scandinavia over the coming days, replicating this strategic engagement to drive tourism growth and high-value arrivals to The Gambia.
