British High Commissioner Pays Courtesy Call on Minister Jobe

The British High Commissioner to The Gambia, Harriet King, today, Wednesday, June 19 paid a courtesy call on the Honorable Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Abdoulie Jobe.

The High Commissioner and the Minister seized the opportunity to discuss means of strengthening the bilateral collaboration between The Gambia and the United Kingdom; especially in the areas of tourism, cultural exchange, and aviation.

On receiving the High Commissioner, Minister Jobe reassured her of his ministry and government’s commitment to further cementing the long-standing bilateral relationship between The Gambia and the United Kingdom.

He acknowledged the fact that the United Kingdom is one of the key partners of The Gambia;  in the area of tourism.

“We are delighted to receive you here today at the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and we hope the visit will pave a new way between the two countries, especially in the tourism sector,” he said. The Minister described tourism as a very important sector in the economic development of the Gambia.

For her part, High Commissioner Harriet King affirmed her readiness to strengthen cooperation with The Gambia Government and assured that the tourism and airline sectors are among her priorities.

She described The Gambia as a peaceful country that has a lot to offer to tourists. “The food is nice as well as the people. You have beautiful weather too,” she said.
