Four staff members of the Gambia Tourism and Hospitality Institute (GTHI) are participating in an international Train-the-Trainer (TOT) programme on Food and Beverage and Tourism Management, being held in Salzburg, Austria, from 10th to 30th August 2026.
The three-week professional development programme is organized by the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (ITH), Salzburg, bringing together tourism and hospitality professionals from different parts of the world for knowledge exchange, professional development and capacity building.
A total of 20 participants from eight countries are taking part in the programme. The participating countries are Egypt, Georgia, Indonesia, Kenya, Sri Lanka, The Gambia, Uganda and Uzbekistan, making the training a valuable platform for international exchange and cross-cultural learning within the tourism and hospitality sector.
Their participation represents an important opportunity to strengthen professional and institutional capacity within Gambia’s tourism and hospitality education sector.
The programme focuses particularly on Food and Beverage and Tourism Management, two key areas in developing a skilled, professional, and competitive tourism workforce. Participants are exposed to international approaches to teaching, training methodologies, tourism management, and hospitality practices.
Beyond classroom learning, the programme provides an opportunity for participants from different countries to exchange experiences, share best practices, and develop a broader understanding of tourism and hospitality education in an international context.
The four Gambian participants are: Fatou Bintou Colley – Senior Instructor, Fatoumatta Y. Fatty – Instructor, Bakary Ceesay – Senior Instructor, and Fatoumatta Saidykhan – Human Resource Officer.
