Indian Community in Gambia Gives D225,000 In Support of Banjul Cultural Festival

As the saying goes, better late than never. The Indian Social and Cultural Association in The Gambia, through its Honorary Consul General, Ram Mohan, presented cheques totaling 225,000 dalasis to the Honourable Abdoulie Jobe, Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, as part of its contributions to the recently concluded Banjul Cultural Festival Celebrations on Thursday 15th, January,  2026.

In receiving the cheques, Minister Jobe thanked the Indian Community in the Gambia for the support and further hailed the cordial relationship between the Gambia and India as excellent.

He further stated that a good number of Indian businesses are flourishing in the Gambia, which in turn creates employment opportunities for many Gambians.

“You people are part and parcel of this country, as you may know, Gambians are very open and friendly people,” he said.

On his part, His Excellency,  Honorary Consul General Ram Mohan,  on behalf of the Indian community in the Gambia, thanked the Minister for the warm welcome accorded to him and his delegation.

He promised to further strengthen the cordial relationship between The Gambia and India to higher heights for the mutual benefits of the two countries.

He stated that the contribution was made possible through the Indian Social and Cultural Association in The Gambia.
