Ministry of Tourism Holds Second Intra-Sectoral Retreat

The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture convened its Second Intra-Sectoral Retreat on Wednesday, 29th, 2026, bringing together heads of institutions and senior officials under the Ministry at the Ocean Bay Hotel in Cape Point, Bakau.

Participants included representatives from the GTBoard, NCAC, GTHI, The YEP Tourism Project-ITC, and TDR- The Gambia Project.

The retreat provides a platform to strengthen collaboration, review sector priorities,  align strategies, and identify challenges and recommendations on the way forward, aimed at advancing our destination’s tourism, gastronomy, arts, culture, and sustainable development in The Gambia.

In her opening remarks, Mrs. Amie Njie, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, said, ” This retreat provides us with a unique platform to engage in frank dialogue, to exchange perspectives, and to reaffirm our collective resolve. Let us ensure that our deliberations culminate in actionable recommendations that will not only address immediate concerns but also lay the foundation for the sustainable growth of the sector,” she told the participants.

She further reassured them of the Ministry’s continued support and collaboration to help them achieve their sectoral goals together and make The Gambia a leading tourism destination in Africa.

She urged participants to take the retreat seriously and come up with recommendations that will advance the tourism sector.
