Neos Air, an Italian leisure airline, received a warm welcome in Destination Gambia on Wednesday, 1st April 2026, as it launched its first direct flight from Italy to the Gambia.
This development marks a significant milestone in expanding connectivity between The Gambia and Europe.
This inaugural flight highlights growing interest in Banjul as a hub for tourism and trade.
The airline was jointly received at the Banjul International Airport by senior officials from the Gambia Tourism Board, Gambia International Airlines, Gambia Civil Aviation Authority, Air Reps, Neos Gambia, and other tourism and aviation stakeholders.
The maiden flight, which travelled directly from Italy to The Gambia, was welcomed with a colorful cultural reception at the airport, marking a significant addition to the country’s growing international air connections.
