Preparation for Banjul New Year Cultural Festival Gathers Momentum

The Banjul New Year Cultural Festival Committee under the guidance of the National Centre for Arts and Culture on Wednesday, 4th September 2024 held its third meeting at the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture in Banjul.

Chairing the meeting, Honorable Abdoulie Jobe, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, commended the different groups who attended the meeting for their commitment to having a successful event, come December.

He encouraged collective efforts to mobilize the necessary funds for the event, pointing out that it is paramount for its successful hosting.

However, the Minister assured them of the Government’s commitment to preserving culture and the arts in the country.

The event, he said, is not only meant to entertain the public but also it is a way of showcasing the talents of the young ones and making them involved in meaningful activities.

Each year in December, the city of Banjul is normally in a festive mood right to the New Year, as cultural jamborees, artistic performances, and entertainment take place at the city’s iconic arch normally attended by people from all walks of life including the diaspora.
