On Friday, 10th July 2026, it was the turn of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and its satellite agencies to appear at the Mnasa Kunda Ministerial Town Hall, hosted by the Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services.
The Ministerial Town Hall, face-to-face with the public, provides a firsthand account of the Ministry’s programmes, achievements, and plans for the sector.
Speaking at the event, Honourable Abdoulie Jobe, Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, described tourism as everybody’s business and called on Gambians wherever they may be to promote Destination Gambia to attract more tourists to the Gambia for economic development.
“We have rolled out a five-year marketing, branding and investment strategy for the sector. I therefore implored everyone to come and support the Ministry and its agencies in achieving these goals and strategies,” he said.
He further stated that efforts are in place, including vigorous marketing of Destination Gambia, cultural heritage preservation, and support for local artisans and creative industries across the tourism sector, all geared towards promoting Destination Gambia.
Minister Jobe also mentioned that the government, through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and its players in the tourism sector, is working shoulder to shoulder to make The Gambia an all-year-round tourist destination.
The Minister also took the opportunity to call on all stakeholders in the tourism sector to work closely with each other in trying to make the Gambia the best and most attractive destination in the subregion.
“There is work in progress and government doesn’t physically bring tourists to the Gambia. We work with partners to make this happen, and this is very important for the sector,” he said.
Jobe reassured them of the Ministry’s collaboration and commitment in realizing and sustaining these objectives together by creating and providing the necessary support needed at all times.
The Town Hall interface was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and its satellite agencies, other senior government officials, senior representatives from the Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services, and members of the public.
