His Excellency Dinkar Asthana, the Indian High Commissioner to The Gambia based in Dakar, Senegal, has promised to continue strengthening the bilateral relations between Banjul and New Delhi.
High Commissioner Asthana made this affirmation during a courtesy visit to the Honorable Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Abdoulie Jobe at his office in Banjul on Tuesday 3rd September 2024.
During his visit, the High Commissioner and the Honorable Minister discussed the possibility of making Indian tourists visit Destination Gambia in the future.
The duo also talked about how some Indian companies are contributing positively to the socio-economic development of The Gambia, with references made to the construction of the University of The Gambia Faraba Banta Campus, the health, and energy sectors, among others.
The officials further mentioned the issue of capacity building to be offered to young Gambians, especially in the areas of tourism, arts, and culture.
At the end of his visit, High Commissioner Asthana reassured the Honorable Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture of India Government’s commitments to the socio-economic development of The Gambia.
