The Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, in collaboration with the Chinese Embassy in The Gambia, held a cultural night featuring a percussion harmony performance on Sunday, 6th April 2025, at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre in Bijilo.
Sheikh Omar Bittaye of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad, speaking on behalf of Honourable Abdoulie Jobe, Minister for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, described the event as one of the great highlights of the powerful diplomatic relations between the Republic of the Gambia and the People’s Republic of China.
“As you know, the two countries have had a very rich and very close diplomatic relationship dating to the 1974s, except for a brief period in the second republic when it was severed but later re-established in 2016. The presence of the Chinese Cultural Delegation exemplifies the very strong relations between the two countries. This is truly cultural diplomacy at its best,” he said.
Mr. Bittaye further stated that China is a great friend of the Gambia, and he further reassured the visiting Chinese delegation of the Gambia’s collaboration in their future endeavors.
