Tourism Ministry, EU Discuss YEP-Tourism, Creative Industries Project

Officials from the European Union and the International Trade Centre recently held a presentation session with the Honorable Minister of Tourism and Culture, Abdoulie Jobe, and his senior management team at the Ministry of Tourism and Culture conference room in Banjul.

The presentation centered around the five-year YEP- Tourism and Creative Industries Project, which will be launched in the Gambia.

The over-role objectives of the project are to contribute to the inclusiveness and sustainability of the Gambia’s Tourism sector and creative industries.

Speaking at the event, Honorable Abdoulie Jobe, Minister of Tourism and Culture welcomed the development and told the EU/ITC officials that his Ministry would give them the necessary support for the proper implementation of the project.

“The project is for the people of The Gambia especially those in the tourism sector. These people should benefit from the project without any problem. We will work with you so that the people in the tourism sector get the maximum benefit,” he said.

Baboucar Sallah, representative of the International Trade Centre in The Gambia, did a detailed explanation of the project, which is mainly aimed at the overall development of the tourism sector of The Gambia.

He said the project is a five-year project funded by the European Union. Mr. Sallah reassured the Minister and team that they would do everything possible for the successful implementation of the project.

The presentation session was chaired by Mrs. Cordu Jabang-Senghore, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Tourism and Culture.
